Have an idea for the kind of Fresh Expression of Church that you'd like to explore, but aren't sure how to begin?

Maybe you've wondered what church could look like on a sports field, in a neighborhood café, around the arts, outdoors, or another everyday space where people already gather. There's something powerful about dreaming alongside others who share your passion while learning from practitioners who have already blazed a trail. Together you'll sharpen your vision, ask good questions, and begin shaping a mission that fits your unique community.

Our 2.5-hour Fresh Expressions Incubators are practical, hands-on, theme specific workshops designed to help you move from "What if?" to "Let's begin."

During the Incubator you'll:

Discover
Discern the people and places God is already inviting you toward. Learn how to identify your ripe opportunities, listen well to your community, and recognize where relationships are already taking root.

Design
Shape a missional initiative that fits your unique context. Explore proven principles, hear stories from leaders who are already doing this work, and develop an approach that feels authentic, not copied from someone else's ministry.

Do
Leave with clear next steps. Together we'll identify your first experiments, anticipate common challenges, and build a simple action plan you can begin putting into practice right away.

Each Incubator focuses on a specific kind of mission initiative—such as cafés, college campuses, the arts, recovery, recreation, the outdoors, senior living, and more—so you'll receive practical guidance from people who have actually started Fresh Expressions in that space.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, or even just the spark of an idea. You'll leave with greater clarity, practical tools, encouragement, and the confidence to take your first faithful step.

College Students

You may be noticing that many college students are spiritually curious—but wary of anything that feels packaged, performative, or disconnected from real life. They’re searching for belonging, purpose, authenticity, and community in the middle of stress, transition, loneliness, and big questions about who they are becoming. And maybe you’ve wondered whether God might be inviting your church to cultivate spaces of connection and spiritual exploration alongside students in ways that feel more relational, creative, and rooted in everyday life than traditional campus ministry models alone.

The College Fresh Expressions Incubator will help you imagine new forms of community with and among college students—spaces shaped around shared meals, creativity, service, conversation, third places, common interests, and the rhythms of campus life. Together, we’ll explore how faith can emerge naturally through relationships, presence, and meaningful connection in the places students already gather.

Arts

You may be noticing a quiet hunger for beauty in the world around us. A curiosity about meaning that doesn’t always come through words, but through images, color, texture, and form. And maybe you’ve wondered whether a creative God might be inviting your church to cultivate a space where creativity and spirituality can be explored side by side.

The Arts Incubator will help you imagine environments where creativity and curiosity can flourish—and discover how community can deepen through shared artistic practice and storytelling.

Just as a sculptor sees possibility within stone and begins to shape it, we'll help you discern the kind of creative community God may be forming in your unique setting—and how to begin.

Café

You may be noticing that some of the most meaningful conversations don't happen in church buildings at all. They happen over coffee, around a table, after work at a neighborhood brewery, or in the familiar rhythm of a local café where people gather to work, meet friends, and wrestle with life's questions. 

The Café Fresh Expressions Incubator will help you imagine new forms of Christian community emerging in coffee shops, cafés, restaurants, breweries, and other gathering places. Together, we'll explore how to cultivate meaningful spiritual conversations, build partnerships with local businesses, discern where doors are opening, and nurture worshipping communities that are shaped by the rhythms and relationships of these public spaces.

Like a favorite neighborhood café that becomes more than a place to grab a drink, we'll discover how ordinary gathering places can become places of belonging, hope, and encounter with God.
